How to Handle Return-to-Origin Orders

Explains standard warehouse receiving and inventory procedures when an undelivered parcel returns to your fulfillment center.

Before You Begin

  • Designate a dedicated inbound staging area for returned parcels.
  • Have order records accessible in your Admin Panel.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Inspect Inbound Returned Parcel

Upon delivery from the courier, check that outer packaging is intact and verify that the shipping label matches the returned order ID.

Step 2: Check Product Condition

Unbox the package and inspect items to confirm they remain unused, undamaged, and complete with all tags.

Step 3: Update Order and Inventory Records

Mark the order status as Returned/RTO in the Admin Panel and restock undamaged items back into available product inventory.

Step 4: Process Payment Reconciliations

If the order was prepaid, process the refund per your store return policy, deducting allowable shipping fees if specified in your terms.

What You Should See

  • Returned merchandise accurately audited, restocked, and reflected in inventory counts.

Common Problems & Troubleshooting
