How to Enable Cash on Delivery

Cash on Delivery (COD) is a common payment method for e-commerce in India. This article covers what to check and configure if it’s supported.

What needs confirming

  • Whether COD exists as a payment option at all
  • Whether it’s a simple on/off toggle, or has configuration (order value limits, eligible regions, extra fees)
  • Where it’s configured — likely alongside other payment methods (see Article 9 “How to Configure Store Payments“)

Needed: Wherever Cash on Delivery is enabled/configured (if it exists) — needed before this article can be written accurately.

If you’re unsure whether to offer it

💡 Tip: COD tends to increase order volume but also increases failed deliveries and return costs. If you’re not sure, it’s reasonable to launch without it and add it later once you understand your typical order value and delivery reliability.
