How Do I Add My First Product?

This article walks through adding your first product in Commerce > Products.

Before you start

Make sure you’ve gathered your product content and planned your categories and attributes first — see What Should I Prepare Before Adding Products. Adding a product is much faster when you’re not stopping to write a description or find a photo mid-way through.

Steps to add a product

  1. Go to Commerce > Products in your dashboard sidebar.
  2. Open the Products screen and choose the option to add a new product.
  3. Enter your product’s core details: name, description, and price.
  4. Assign a category from the Categories you set up in Article 8.
  5. Add attributes and variants (size, color, etc.) if the product has them, using the Attribute Sets, Attributes, and Colors you prepared.
  6. Upload your product photos.
  7. Set stock quantity and SKU, if applicable.
  8. Save and publish the product.

After you save

Once published, your product should appear on your live storefront. Use Store > Store Management > Preview Store to check how it looks to customers — confirm the photos, price, and description all display the way you expect before moving on.

A tip for your first product

💡 Tip: Add just one product fully and check it on your storefront before bulk-adding the rest of your catalog. It’s much easier to fix a formatting or photo-sizing issue on one product than to redo the same mistake across fifty.
